We’re 27 Days from FIFA and Seattle Is Ready!

Seattle is less than a month out from hosting the first FIFA World Cup match and our city is ready!

Seattle is one of 16 cities across the globe hosting FIFA Men’s World Cup games over four weeks in June and July.

Seattle will host six matches at Lumen Field, including the United States Men’s National Team on Juneteenth (June 19), the Pride Match on June 26, a Round of 32 match on July 1, and a Round of 16 match on July 6.

The games, the influx of visitors, and the parties are unlike anything Seattle, and the region, have ever seen – and that’s saying a lot because we’ve been home to Super Bowl celebrations for our Seahawks, rolled out the red carpet for pop culture icons like Taylor Swift and Metallica, and even hosted presidents and other dignitaries.
Every city branch has been working tirelessly for months on how to keep people safe, make sure people are moving, and ensure the events go as planned.

Some major changes that will be visible during the FIFA World Cup period:

  • In Pioneer Square and the nearby stadiums, the city has created a dedicated pedestrian zone on match days. We’re excited for the pedestrian zone to provide new opportunities for businesses in the area, and the energy this will create in the community.
  •  AlertSeattle will be there to keep you informed every step of the way — sign up here, or text SEATTLE to 67283.

Whether you’re attending a match, hosting a party, or soaking up the energy surrounding the games, this is going to be a summer for the books!

27 days to go, Seattle. Let’s make ‘em count. Follow the City of Seattle on social media for updates leading up to, and throughout, the tournament.
